5 high school football players in Philadelphia are shot, 1 dies.

Gunfire broke out behind a high school in Philadelphia on Tuesday afternoon, leaving one 14-year-old dead and four other high school football players injured, according to authorities.

Around 4:41 p.m., as the five unnamed victims were leaving the Roxborough High School field following a scrimmage, a green Ford Explorer sped up and started firing at the players

According to authorities, the patients were sent to Einstein Medical Center and Temple University Hospital.

According to authorities, the dead 14-year-old was shot once in the chest.

Investigators said that a male victim, 17, was shot in the arm and leg, a male victim, 14, was shot in the thigh, and a victim, 15, was shot in the leg. 

All of the athletes who were shot attended Roxborough High School, according to Deputy Philadelphia Police Commissioner John Stanford, and the gunmen fled the scene on foot.
