Willie Snead IV, a wide receiver, was added to the San Francisco 49ers' active roster on Monday.
Snead was unconditionally released by the 49ers on Tuesday, but it is believed that they want to re-sign him to the practice squad if he clears waivers.
This season, Snead, who turns 30 this month, has been on and off the 49ers practice squad, but he has not made an appearance in a game.
With the Las Vegas Raiders and Carolina Panthers, he participated in nine games last season, ending with four receptions for 38 yards.
Snead's first two NFL seasons were his most fruitful; with the New Orleans Saints in 2015–16, he hauled in 141 passes for 1,879 yards and seven scores.
Prior to a three-year run with the Baltimore Ravens, the former Ball State standout also spent the 2017 campaign with New Orleans.
