Brittney Griner is in a Russian correctional colony, her legal team announced Thursday.
Maria Blagovolina and Alexander Boykov visited Griner in the IK-2 labour camp last week after a Russian court refused to overturn her nine-year prison sentence for cannabis oil possession.
"Brittney is doing well and trying to stay strong as she adapts," they stated.
The lawyers said Griner is facing "a very difficult time."Her legal team stated Griner was released from jail on Nov. 4.
The two-time Olympic champion and eight-time WNBA all-destination star's remained unknown at the time.
Griner's agent, Lindsay Colas, thanked the Biden administration and Richardson Center for working to gain her release.
