Boar head bristles are great at removing tangles and knots while being gentle on roots and scalp.

Cushioned and flexible hairbrushes help detangle hair without breakage. When choosing a hairbrush, make sure it won't break or flatten your hair.

Be gentle when brushing your hair. All Things Hair recommends working upward.

Work your way up from the top, removing tangles and knots. Wet hair is easier to brush, but it can fall flat. Before brushing wet hair, towel-dry it.

Brushing dry hair helps products penetrate and last longer. Start at the bottom and work your way up to comb wet hair.
