In response to the news that he won't be playing for Manchester United against Chelsea, Cristiano Ronaldo has issued a statement.
The 37-year-old will not play against the Blues on Saturday after allegedly failing to enter the game against Tottenham on Wednesday night.
Ronaldo posted a statement on social media shortly after his suspension was made official.
According to the statement, "I try to live and play respectfully toward my colleagues, my competitors, and my coaches, as I have always done throughout my career."
"I am the same person and professional that I have been for the last 20 years playing elite football, and respect has never changed how significant a factor it has been in my decision-making.
"I was a relatively young player when I started, so I always looked up to the older, more seasoned players as examples.
