Ben Stokes led England to a four-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the Twenty20 World Cup quarterfinals, ending Australia's title defence.
England needed to win to join New Zealand in Group 1's last four. Stokes hit an unbeaten 42.
They won with two balls left after a nail-biting finish. If they'd lost, Australia would've advanced.
"It was close." It's T20 cricket, Adil Rashid said. They bowled well and created pressure, but Stokesy played magnificently, so we won.
Sri Lanka was 80-2 after 10 overs but collapsed to 141-8 with Pathum Nissanka out for 67. Mark Wood took 3-26.
England replied with 75 without loss and appeared to win easily. They collapsed to 111-5 under Sri Lankan spin attack, and it was close.
