There are several beverages that have been served from soda fountains and grocery store shelves for decades, if not centuries.

Fans of Dr. Pepper, Canada Dry Ginger Ale, A&W Root Beer, and Coca-Cola Classic need not worry about the possible elimination of their beloved carbonated soft drinks.

Some admirers, however, can't say the same. Over time, several soft drink brands have been discontinued. 

 Soda companies may be persuaded to change their minds when their most devoted consumers make their voices heard.

In 1985, for 79 miserable days, Coca-Cola disappeared from store shelves, to be replaced with a new, sweeter drink simply named Coke.

Coca-Cola, you heard correctly, has attempted to eliminate its most famous product.
