The Los Angeles Lakers' attempt to trade star player Russell Westbrook during the previous offseason is far from a secret. However, it appears that they once had an offer on the table.
The Jazz were prepared to offer a large sum for Westbrook, according to Utah Jazz insider Tony Jones of The Athletic during a Tuesday Twitter conversation.
He revealed to a Twitter user that they offered Westbrook and two Lakers first-round picks in exchange for Mike Conley, Rudy Gay, and Bojan Bogdanovic as well as a 2023 first-round pick.
Jones claimed that the Jazz would not counteroffer without the Lakers' draft picks because the Lakers would not give them up.
In the end, the Jazz kept Conley and Gay but traded Bogdanovic to the Detroit Pistons for Saben Lee and Kelly Olynyk.
In contrast, Westbrook started for the Lakers in their season-opening game against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday. Although he performed admirably, the Lakers were defeated 123-109.
