Despite being little and short in stature, former NBA guard Nate Robinson won three different NBA Slam Dunk Contests over his 11-year career,
which helped him establish himself as a household celebrity. But it now appears that the former celebrity is facing a grave health issue.
Robinson revealed over the weekend that he has been battling renal kidney failure for the past four years and is currently receiving therapy for it.
"I have been discreetly battling renal kidney failure for the past four years, and I am currently receiving therapy for it. Robinson added in a statement that NBA insider Shams Charania tweeted
"I am revealing this now because I want to be a voice for all those who are having problems speaking about this condition, and join together for a greater cause — our health.
It's time for me to speak up and support everyone impacted by or coping with renal disease. On the court, I was never a vocal leader; I preferred to lead by example.
