The death of a former Dallas Cowboys player came as awful news on Thursday night to the football community.
According to several accounts, Gavin Escobar, a former tight end with the Cowboys, died in a horrific rock climbing accident. Just 31 years old, he was.
Escobar was one of two climbers who were discovered dead on the peak, according to KESQ. Escobar and Chelsea Walsh, 33, were discovered dead when firefighters from Riverside County arrived.
Late on Thursday night, the Cowboys posted an homage to the former player on Twitter. The statement was "Forever in our hearts," and there was a picture of Escobar wearing a Cowboys jersey.
"I just learned about Gavin Escobar, and I'll never forget the Cowboys announcing his name in the 2014 NFL Draft. RIP, Too Soon "Tony Casillas, a former Cowboys player, stated.
"This is a really unfortunate development. We are sending our thoughts and prayers to Gavin Escobar's loved ones. Peace be upon him, "said a different supporter.
