On Monday, the 49ers released a veteran wide receiver.

It's possible that San Francisco no longer requires the services of Willie Snead IV.

The veteran wide receiver was released by the 49ers on Monday after being called up from the practice squad on Saturday. Even so, it's predicted that he'll eventually end up back on the team.

Snead played in two games for the Niners this season, including 28 total snaps in the team's victory over the Rams in Week 8.

In order to make room on the active roster for Snead, who has already been signed by the Jaguars, the 49ers dismissed one offensive lineman.

Snead has played in 97 games throughout the course of his eight NFL seasons with the Saints, Ravens, Panthers, Raiders, and San Francisco, collecting 3,431 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns.

According to reports, the 49ers will currently try out a number of wide receivers and defensive backs, including Tajae Sharpe and Mohamed Sanu.
