The Los Angeles Lakers faithful seem to be in for yet another season of watching Russell Westbrook play for LA at this point in the preseason.
However, after Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN delivered another another bombshell regarding Russ' future with the Lakers, this might not be the case.
Woj claims that the team has only placed the Westbrook trade discussions on hold for training camp and that talks should go back up as soon is possible (h/t ClutchPoints on Twitter):
The Lakers will eventually start contacting potential trade partners about Russell Westbrook, according to Woj. "They effectively stopped it at the beginning of training camp."
Very few clubs would be ready (or able) to accept Westbrook's enormous contracts, but Woj did not specify which teams the Lakers had been in negotiations with.
The San Antonio Spurs and the Utah Jazz are two tanking clubs that immediately spring to mind, with the prospect of a post-trade buyout for the former league MVP looming.
