Thanks to the efforts of defensive end Marquis Haynes

Panthers were able to stave off a furious comeback by the Falcons in the final minutes.

 The Panthers went three and out with 2:20 remaining and sent the ball to the Falcons with a seven point lead. 

On second and fourth down, Haynes sacked Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota.

The defense was able to hold on for the victory. 

The Panthers caused Mariota a lot of trouble all game long, recording five sacks and nine total hits.

In addition, the defense had 10 tackles, including two for losses.
