The San Francisco 49ers choose a seasoned quarterback.

It's been quite the rollercoaster for the San Francisco 49ers at quarterback, what with Trey Lance's season-ending injury

and Jimmy Garoppolo's strange contract issue before the season, and they just made another change at the position this week.

Kurt Benkert, a seasoned NFL quarterback, is being released by the San Francisco 49ers from the practice squad, according to Pro Football Focus' Ari Meirov.

Meriov tweeted on Wednesday, "The #49ers have promoted RB Tevin Coleman to the 53-man roster and dismissed QB Kurt Benkert off the practice squad."

Benkert, who has played in only one game so far in his career, hasn't had much of an influence in the league,

but he offered crucial depth to a position that was desperately in need of it following the injury to Lance, who had been selected the team's starter at the start of the season.
