Ukraine FA asks FIFA to exclude Iran from the World Cup.

Iranian participation in the World Cup in Qatar has been requested by the Ukrainian Association of Football.

The executive committee of the UAF claims it has asked FIFA, the world's soccer governing body, to ban Iran from the competition

because of what it calls the nation's "systematic human rights violations" and "the potential involvement of Iran in the military aggression of Russia against Ukraine."

Since the death in detention of Mahsa Amini, 22, on September 16, anti-government demonstrations have seized the Middle Eastern nation.

Amini had been detained for allegedly breaking Iranian laws mandating women to wear hijabs, or headscarves, to cover their hair.

FIFA to expel the nation from the competition on the grounds that FIFA's own rules had been broken by not allowing women to attend matches there.
